๐๐ป๐๐ป The exemplary work of WWF CAMEROON and WWF GABON has just been highlighted by the film โ๐๐ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐๐ป๐ด๐น๐ฒโ, a magnificent feature film made by Hugo Hebbe and the WWF about ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ฒ๐ ๐ถ๐๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ป ๐ต๐๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ถ๐น๐ฑ๐น๐ถ๐ณ๐ฒ.

This film highlights two contrasting situations:
๐ฆ ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐๐ถ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ฒ๐
๐ถ๐๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ with certain species, here gorillas, with the aim of getting to know them better and protecting them;
๐ but a ๐ด๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐ณ๐น๐ถ๐ฐ๐ with forest elephants, which devastate plantations after being driven from their natural habitat by intensive agriculture, mining operations and urbanisation.
๐ This latter issue, vital for almost all communities in the Congo Basin forests, is at the heart of our action.
๐๐ป In southern Cameroon, Up2green is taking concrete action on this conflict, in partnership with ABOYERD, through a project delivering multiple and tangible impacts, benefiting both local people and wildlife.

Setting up ๐ฎ๐ด๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ผ๐น๐ผ๐ด๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ to protect crops:
๐ณ๐ถ๏ธ planting lemon trees and chilli peppers (natural repellents);
๐ installing beehives (elephants are afraid of bees).

Creating ๐น๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ถ๐ต๐ผ๐ผ๐ฑ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ถ๐ป๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ๐ฒ for local communities:
๐๐ฏ promoting agroforestry and beekeeping products.

๐ณโ๏ธ planting nutritious and medicinal forest species to restore the elephantsโ natural habitats and keep them away from villages.
๐ This project is part of a regional-scale dynamic, with possibilities for local expansion and integration into national or even cross-border initiatives such as the TRIDOM project or those implemented in the Sangha Trinational Complex (a UNESCO World Heritage Site, under the project ownership of COMIFAC).
